The position of the Ittihad al-Shaab newspaper on security issues in Iraq (1959-1960)
Asst. Prof. Dr. Saif Adnan Arhim Al-Qaisi , Mustafa Abbas Daoud
The research sheds light on the newspaper’s position (Ittihad al-Shaab) regarding the security developments that accompanied the revolution of July 14, 1958, which in turn expresses the position of the Iraqi Communist Party on these developments. The July 14 Revolution and the resulting national government described all who opposed it as conspiring with colonialism. However, despite its support for the government, the government of Abdul Karim Qassem sought to reduce the newspaper until its closure on September 30 1960.
